Your responsibilities

Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures. Ensures that an integrated schedule and cost control performance measurement process for the project’s entire scope of work is provided
Analyzes project requirements with project team, checks that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to serve as a basis for developing realistic project schedules. Simulation Specialist - Genova

You shall be working in the global Research and Development department, which is responsible for the development of product portfolio for the Grid Edge Solutions (GES) team. The Hitachi Energy battery energy storage portfolio “e-meshTM PowerStoreTM” is a scalable energy storage solution that is designed to ensure reliable power availability, grid stability, highest possible penetration of renewable energy for both grid-connected and off-grid systems (microgrids). The R&D team is located in the Hitachi Energy Grid Automation offices in Genova, Italy. Being part of a global team, you shall interact with the different stakeholders of the organization and Operational units worldwide. Your focus shall be Modelling of Hitachi Energy e-meshTM product portfolio (PowerStore and Automation), with focus on integration of the models into Power System modelling and simulation tools. You shall leverage your extensive knowledge of modelling applied to Power Systems, Power Electronics and digital control techniques being responsible for the product development process of validated models representative of the Grid Edge Solution product portfolio. Working with the R&D senior management you shall participate in the definition and implementation the product modelling roadmap for Grid Edge Solution team, being supporting the model delivery and rollout of the models including in the deliver reduced grid impact studies for execution projects. As part of the R&D team you will have the opportunity to interact with Product Management, external consultants, and internal customers globally located.

Responsible for the simulation models development, testing and validation.

Your background

Master degree, preferred in either Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with focus on Power System stability and Power Electronics domain. A PhD in the area DER grid integration of with focus on control aspects would be a plus.
Minimum 1 year of experience in modelling and studying Power Systems and Power Electronics, using state of the art tools (Matlab Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD)
Excellent knowledge of Power System, Power Electronics and Control system modelling tools (Matlab Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD).
Experience in executing Grid Impact Studies is a plus.
Knowledge of Python, PyTest and simulation automation techniques is a plus.
Excellent communication in English is essential in our global organization

R&D Engineer in Power System Automation Area - Genova

You shall be working in the research and development department, which is responsible for the automation logics relevant to Energy Storage, Microgrid and Renewable automation product families within the Grid Automation Business Unit – Grid Edge Solutions team. The R&D team is located at the Hitachi Energy office in Genoa, Italy. We are looking for a highly motivated engineering professional with the ability to drive automation research and development projects under the direction of the Automation Product Line Manager and working in team with the Project Manager. Your focus shall be the automation of distributed generation integrated in traditional power systems as well as in Microgrid. You shall also be supporting the validation of Grid Edge Solution software and hardware control platforms ensuring the adequacy of these to meet increasingly stringent requirements with the support of a global R&D team.

Project Controller - Genova

Lead planning, scheduling and cost control efforts for all project phases. Maintain and analyze actual and forecasted schedules, cost and risk. Monitor, report and manage deviations.

Your responsibilities

Ensure projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures. Ensure that an integrated schedule and cost control performance measurement process for the project’s entire scope of work is provided;
Forecast, monitor and analyze project cash flow. Continuous track of the development of activities scheduled, payment due to contractual milestones and works execution, support a timely cash-in from customer and avoid overdue.
Analyze project requirements with project team, check that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to serve as a basis for developing realistic project schedules. Define, jointly with the project team, project work and cost breakdown structure, develop and maintain properly linked, required resource loaded/integrated, baseline and current schedules that provide time phased baseline, actual and forecast data for project. Monitor project progress and regularly analyzes project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, notifies Project Managers of any deviations or scheduling issues, and provide input for optimizing resources. Issue progress reports, program updates and productivity data on a regular basis and as requested by customers and stakeholders;
Establish a baseline plan for cost and cash flow performance measurement. Work with project team to define the necessary resources for project completion, evaluating the work breakdown structure and standard productivity. Accurately monitor costs and project cash flow, maintains detailed estimate to complete and estimate at completion forecast, analyze variances by using earned value management techniques and advise project management on any cost and cash flow issues arising;
Work closely with engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, client and contractors to identify potential changes in scope and quantify the impact of each change in a timely fashion. Administer the change order systems and advise the Project Manager on the cost impact of potential changes and ensure the control estimate/budget is current and reflects changes;
Work with project team to identify and assess the priority of project risks (e.g. schedule, cost and scope risks), maintain the risk register and propose mitigation plans. Analyze impact of risk on the overall timeline and costs;
Integrate material resource requirements with project schedule and defines procurement activities and order lead times. Regularly communicate with SCM team and update schedules to ensure procurement activities take place in a timely way and lead times are optimized to meet schedule targets;
